How do I become a Swami?
Joining is straightforward, but it is worth knowing what you are agreeing to. Attendance, character, keeping your grades up, teamwork, team spirit, service projects and full effort are the hallmarks of this program. When a swimmer commits to our team, they commit to those things.

Call or text Minerva at 801-618-9807, or email info@raceswami.org, and tell us about your swimmer.
Swim a one-week trial
Every prospective Swami trains with us for a week, at no cost, in the group our coaches think fits.
Decide together
The week lets your family judge whether the commitment works, and gives our coaches time to see how your swimmer will do here.

Financial assistance is always available, and the team supplies the gear a swimmer needs to get started.
What the club is actually like
Race Swami is a small, community-fuelled program. Swimmers range from 6 to 17 across several training groups, and we keep the groups small so the swimmer-to-coach ratio stays where it should be. Our coaches know every swimmer's name, whether or not they head that group. Nearly every one of our athletes started swimming here.
Yes, it is hard work. We expect our Swamis to keep excellent grades, make an effort to attend every practice, be good citizens, and be dependable teammates. There is no shortcut to strong character; building it is a lifelong process. What we can tell you is that our swimmers are happy, hard-working and confident, and they tell us all the time that they would not want to be anywhere else.
Why join Race Swami?
Race Swami has become a force in Utah's competitive swimming landscape, and we are proud that it is a community-built team of local kids from Salt Lake's westside. Donors and foundations have noticed, and so have families who see the value in a program that puts character first without asking them to clear a financial hurdle.
The honest answer is that you have to see it. Have your swimmer shadow us for a week. Let them meet our athletes, try the dryland regimen or a yoga session, and spend a day volunteering with us in the neighbourhood. Joining the Swami family means more than aligning with a swim team. It means deciding to find out how good you can get, and making a difference on the way.
