Swimming with the Swamis

Race Swami exists to give an engaging competitive swimming experience to young people from Salt Lake City's westside: Rose Park, Glendale, Poplar Grove and the surrounding neighbourhoods. We want a healthy, stimulating place where they can grow, compete, have fun and pick up a strong moral compass along the way.

We are a member club of USA Swimming and compete under the sanction of Utah Swimming. All ages and skill levels are welcome, we run year round, and we take new athletes any time of year regardless of ability to pay. Financial assistance is always available.

What each group trains

Our pre-competitive, development-focused program for young swimmers who have graduated from a lessons program but are not quite ready for competition. Training is built around fun and skill building. Space is usually available.

The next step once swimmers are ready for a little more. About an hour per session, with a short introductory dryland block. Limited space.

An entry-level competitive group, with a fifteen minute dryland session three days a week. Kairos trains at Northwest Rec and at the Granger pool in West Valley. Limited space.

An intermediate group with longer and more frequent training, plus a fifteen minute dryland session. Mavericks train at Northwest Rec in Rose Park and at the Granger pool. Limited space.

For swimmers pushing from intermediate toward a more advanced goal. Two-hour sessions with thirty minutes of dryland beforehand and an hour of yoga once a week. Training is split between Northwest Rec and the Granger pool alongside Kamiwaza. An ongoing personal journal is required. Limited space.
